For the second consecutive year, Seeach Sod had the unique opportunity to participate in the worldwide Shabbos Project. This year, our Ashira program for girls with intellectual disabilities or on the autistic spectrum partnered with the Yachad Onward program run by Mrs. Chana Kitov, who is always on the lookout for creative ideas to inspire the next generation of Jewish women. While adhering to the coronavirus guidelines, we the two groups had a wonderful time together.
The goal of the Ashira program is to help students achieve maximum quality of life and independence, with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication and self-motivation. The love and respect of the Yachad Onward girls certainly contributed to that goal! The Yachad girls brought challah covers and aprons, which they decorated together with the Ashira students. Then they enjoyed preparing challah together, all the while singing Shabbos songs. What an inspiration!
Thank you to the Shabbos Project for initiating this program.
